Buttermilk Chicken Recipe


Give yourself a good treat with this delicious crispy buttermilk oven fried chicken recipe. This oven-fried chicken comes in moist on the inside and crispy, crunchy on the outside, just like pan-fried but with much less fat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup corn flakes cereal
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • cooking spray
Procedure:
  • Heat oven to 425 degrees F. line 13x9" pan with foil, spray foil with cooking spray
  • Place corn flake cereal in food-storage plastic bag, seal bag or hold the tip very tightly and crush the content with rolling pin or any other thing appropriate
  • In a shallow bowl, mix crushed cereal, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, poultry seasoning, black pepper, paprika, salt and ground red pepper
  • In another shallow bowl, place chicken. Pour in buttermilk over the chicken pieces, turning to coat all sides
  • Remove chicken pieces, one at a time, from buttermilk, then dip in cereal mixture, turning to coat completely, shake off excess
  • Place chicken pieces, bone sides down, in a pan
  • Spray the top of chicken with cooking spray and bake uncovered for 50 to 60 minutes or until juice of chicken is clear when thickest piece is cut to bone
  • Remove from oven and serve preferably with salad or chips
