Spicy Minced Meat Kebab Recipe


This is a traditional Nigerian recipe for a classic kofta-style kebab of minced beef, spices and chillies packed onto skewers and grilled.


Ingredients:

  • 500g lean minced beef
  • 1 tablespoon ground chillies
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoon fresh chopped spinach
  • 1 nutmeg, finely grated to powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for brushing
Procedure:
  • Place all the ingredients (except the oil) in a large bowl and mix very well with your hands
  • Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour
  • Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions or as desired and shape each into a sausage about 5cm long
  • Soak 4 kebab skewers in water for an hour and push through the sausages, ensuring you mold them firmly onto the skewer
  • Brush the kebabs all over with oil and place under a grill or on a barbecue and cook for 10 minutes, turning frequently
  • Remove from heat and serve preferably with tomato, lemon and onion slices or salad
