This stew recipe comes from southern Nigeria (Biafra).

Ingredients:
- 675g stewing beef, cubed
- 1.2kg small chicken pieces
- 800g tinned whole tomatoes
- 1 green bell pepper, coarsely chopped
- 2 hot chilli peppers, pounded to paste
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Groundnut oil, to fry
Procedure:
- First of all steam meat (beef and chicken) in a small pot for about 5 minutes
- Heat the oil in a large pot
- Add in the meat and fry until it turns out dark brown
- Add in the onion and chilli, and fry for 2 minutes more
- Add in the remaining ingredients and cook on medium to low heat for about 30 minutes or until the beef is tender.
- If there are whole pieces of tomato still in the pot, mash them with the back of a spoon (if you don't want them that way)
- Serve hot with couscous
